But if it doesn't matter that it's a 4Runner, maybe you could get something else that fits your wants/needs for $10k-$15k less, and then you have the same savings as you might get with a 4Runner's value retention, but you get those savings up front. If you want a 4Runner because it's a 4Runner, then decide how much you want to spend and try to get one for that. No telling what will happen to Gen5 values once it's released. While the 4R has historically retained its value more than almost any other vehicle, there are no guarantees, and a new generation is approaching.
